Biolift
Real-time oceanographic monitoring platform with predictive alerts and particle dispersion simulation for aquaculture operations.
"I've tried building software several times. It's hard to find a developer who truly understands what you need. Emar Chile understands both aquaculture and software."
The Challenge
Biolift installs waste collectors beneath salmon cages at farm sites across southern Chile. The collectors intercept organic waste before it reaches the seabed, but they operate in harsh, unpredictable ocean conditions.
The team had no centralized way to monitor conditions across sites. They couldn't warn clients before thresholds were breached or act before damage occurred. Clients had to take their word for it.
Regulators demanded site-specific proof that the collectors reduce seabed impact. Static estimates weren't enough.
Our Solution
Biolift's team and their clients had no shared view of site conditions. That was the core gap.
We built a real-time monitoring platform that pulls in current speed, wind, wave height, and cage tension data. A three-tier alert system notifies both Biolift's operations team and their clients through the same dashboard. Push notifications fire when conditions approach critical thresholds. Daily reports summarize alert activity.
The team now monitors client sites proactively, with forecasted alerts that flag hazardous conditions days before they arrive.
Results
- Real-time oceanographic monitoring across all sites
- Automated alerts for current, wave, and tension thresholds
- Shared dashboard between Biolift and their clients
- Forecasted alerts days before hazardous conditions

Our Solution
Regulators needed proof that Biolift's collectors reduce organic deposition on the seabed. A static estimate wouldn't hold up. They needed a simulation that could model site-specific conditions and show the difference.
We built a simulation tool that takes real oceanographic data from each site, models where organic waste settles on the seabed, and compares two scenarios: with and without Biolift's collectors in place. The output gives regulators a clear, visual comparison of seabed impact. Results align with industry-standard reference models.
Results
- Results consistent with industry-standard reference models
- Site-specific visual evidence of seabed impact reduction
- Regulatory-ready output for environmental submissions
